Summary                              Michael Currie is a bilingual student studying Computer Science at Waterloo University.  He is an internationally award-winning political essayist.  His communication skills include being a Student Council President, provincial debate finalist, debate coach and TV personality.  He has also won many awards for his computer programming and mathematical abilities.  A piano player for over a decade, he has also written, directed, and performed in many plays.  His athletic interests are Aikido (7th Kyu), Kickboxing (9th Kyu), as well as Varsity Running, Skiing and Cycling.

·         2001 Awarded 1000-Euro prize in an all-ages international essay contest.  Met with European Commission President Romano Prodi and BP Chairman Dr. Peter Sutherland to receive award in Florence, Italy.  Other winners included the World Trade Editor of the Financial Times and an advisor to the British Government.

Computer Skills                Software Development

                                              Ten years of experience in Basic and C. 

Six years of experience in C++, Object Oriented Programming, and Assembly Language.

Four years experience in Java, Pascal and Turing.

Programmed own GUI operating system.

Experience with both Windows and DOS programming.

Some projects included a Neural Network that plays Tic-Tac-Toe, a Windows-based 3-D graphics engine using OWL and C++.  Took a college course in C++ at age 13.

Assembled own computer.  Installed Ethernet hub for my floor mates at university.  Highly advanced skills in MS Office, Internet operations, and many other applications.

Assigned to anticipate network traffic for 40 000+ customer network at Thunder Bay Telephone.  Experienced with switching technologies, such as Nortel’s DMS-100, SHASTA, and Juniper Networks.  Performed fusion-based fibre splicing for an outside plant engineering division.
